VIRTRA: Is a law enforcement and military training company that creates cutting edge judgmental training simulators. I worked as a Creative Director and Programmer where I wrote, directed, edited, and programmed over 75 different training scenarios based on detailed police and military reports. Well over 50% of VirTra's "scenario" library is something I created.
The link to the left is an example of the more advanced training I helped develop for VirTra. The video that's playing above shows off parts of the "scenarios" I developed for the VirTra V300 simulator, and provides examples of the products they developed around this content.
VIDEO & SOFTWARE "SCENARIO" DESIGN: VirTra has a wide line of simulators including the V100, the V180, and the V300. Each requiring a different deliverable for every scenario developed. A single script I wrote and directed could be turned into content for each of the simulators just as long as the scenario's design was within each simulators limitations. To stay within these limitations, my scripts often became detailed branching narratives that would not only cover possible training outcomes, but also unique outcomes for each simulator. Outcomes that were all live action, coming from the footage I created from film productions I would direct. These productions would always be on location, requiring scouting and casting, but filming was done through a propriatary process I helped develop that allowed us to capture 360 degrees of action on a standard DSLR camera. An understanding of post production as well as how to program each of these outcomes to function on a VirTra simulator made producing these scenarios a difficult and rewarding challenge. On average, I created over 10 scenarios a year, each it's own seperate film production with a complex post production process that involved editing, visual effects, and detailed frame-based programming.
